Conference 2015

Dear Zontians

The next District Conference will be held in Rotorua – the premier tourism city, cultural capital and mountain-biking mecca of New Zealand. Put the dates 18th-20th September 2015 in your diary and plan to stay longer to enjoy this beautiful part of our country.

The Zonta Club of Rotorua is hosting the conference and I am working with Conference Committee Chair, Pam McGrath, Conference Secretary, Karen Clark, and a small team from the club to organise an inspiring conference for you. We will also have help from the clubs in Area 4 and other parts of New Zealand.

Attending conference is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy fellowship with members of your own club, make new friends from throughout New Zealand, to learn more about Zonta and be stimulated to carry on with your work for our Zonta mission.

The theme for the conference is our biennium theme “Embracing the Challenge”. We will hear from inspiring speakers who have “embraced the challenge” and contributed to advancing the status of women.

2015 sees us celebrating 50 years of Zonta in New Zealand, the Auckland Club having been chartered in 1965. The new committee, the Centennial and Semi-centennial Anniversary Committee, will be assisting with our celebrating this milestone at conference. We will be acknowledging the past but also be very focused on the future of our organization.

We will continue to hold the Leadership Seminar on the Friday morning prior to the opening ceremony.

The conference will be held at the Millennium Hotel, a very comfortable hotel, conveniently located close to the world-acclaimed Polynesian Spa, the Blue Baths where the Gala dinner will be held on September 19th, the iconic Bath House, which houses an excellent museum and art gallery, and the beautiful Government Gardens. Booking accommodation at the Millennium can be done from this website. A booking form is attached, but from September there will be a direct link. It is very convenient to stay at the conference hotel, but Rotorua is spoilt for choice of accommodation, if you choose to stay elsewhere. See the Air NZ article for Rotorua information here.

On Friday night experience dining in Eat Street, a novel roofed restaurant strip with underground thermal heating.

Keep a watch on the conference website as we will add information on the keynote speakers and programme as it becomes available.

We look forward to seeing you all in Rotorua in September 2015.
